PARCCPARCC is the standardized test that will be assessing student mastery of the Common Core State Standards.
It stands for Partnership for Assessment for Readiness of College and Careers and is one of two main assessments in the United States that will be measuring student aptitude on the Common Core (the other is the SBAC which stands for the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium). Illinois students will be taking the PARCC assessment. PARCC assesses students in English Language Arts and Math. How many times are students tested? Students are tested in the spring once a year from 3rd-8th grades. Students are tested in the spring of the 11th grade in high school. PARCC does provide optional tests to be given at the beginning and middle of the school year to be used as a formative assessment to drive instructional decisions to prepare students for the official annual spring test. What does the test look like? The English Language Arts portion of the test includes multiple choice, multiple correct answer, drag and drop, highlighting, and essay responses.
